Greetings to Wutar friends old and new,
Welcome to the all-new, coffee-stained, unrestrained, uncensored and unlimited Wutars website. Same address, but better furniture, with more juicy content on it’s way. In the meantime, our first 5-song EP is now available, and after countless months in the making, we guarantee it was worth the wait!
It’s sunday evening and we just arrived back from our long-awaited first gig in Maz’s hometown of Middlesborough. It was great to see our old friends and make some new ones, but sadly due to lack of time we were denied the northern delicacy of ‘parmo’s’ – except for Alex G who consumed one mistaking it for a ‘vegetarian’ version because it had mushrooms on it. Maz hasn’t stopped laughing since! To those who showed up to the gig, what about that rampaging duck-billed platypus eh?!! To those who didn’t, you’ll have to come next time to see if he makes a return appearance (you can tell I’m clutching at straws).
All the fun and merriment keeps our minds distracted from the recent news concerning a popular beat combo from Manchester. Check any music magazine from around 1996 onwards where a new band is afforded their first feature, and the chances are their listed influences would include Oasis. The Wutars are no different. A video of Maz aged around 15 shows him performing a set of Noel Gallagher compositions with a bunch of friends, all sporting the essential haircuts. At parties which played ‘Definitely Maybe’, Alex G would pull out his guitar and perform the whole album. And for me, Oasis were the moment my dreams became that bit closer to reality, while Andy Bell showed me you can be a cool bass player with a slightly posh voice. Ah well, “It’s just rock ‘n roll”.
Ta-ra for now,
The Wutars (Alex V)
