We played a ruddy blinder on Tuesday at Cafe 1001. Thanks to everyone who made it down, it was an awesome evening. A good time had by all.

I am currently nursing a bit of a cold. I’m not a wizz with the computers but I’m pretty sure you can’t catch it from this blog so please keep reading.

Tomorrow we are heading into the studio to conjure up some more magical melodies that will excite your ears and tickle your naughty bits. It’s on a Llama farm apparently.

In other news: Our landladies are coming over tonight so we’ve been cleaning the place to give the impression that it looks like this all the time. It doesn’t.

Our next gig is an acoustic affair at the Black Heart in Camden. Do come down wont you?

I’ll love you and leave you now my lovelies.

Our house has lost yet another light-bulb. Who will take the responsibility to fix it? Let’s weigh up the options:

How many singers does it take to change a lightbulb?
Two. One to screw it in and the other to say “Isn’t that a little high for you?”

How many guitarists does it take to change a lightbulb?
Twenty. One to change it and nineteen to say “Not bad but I could’ve done better”.

How many drummers does it take to change a lightbulb?
None. They have a machine to do that now.

How many bassists does it take to change a lightbulb?
None. The keyboard player can do it with his left hand.

Well in the absence of a keyboard player, I think this absolves Sam and myself of the responsibility. Lovely stuff!

We’re back in the studios again this weekend working on our masterpiece. Start the countdown!

The Importance Of Being Musical
I found myself in a particularly uninspired mood for a blog subject today. That’s not to say nothing is happening. The Wutars continue to work their hardest with gigs aplenty and recording sessions filling up the rest of our time, but there’s only so much material to be found there.

And so I turned to my friends for advice (something that I really should do more often every day) and the obvious answer was just to stick to what it all comes down to: music.

It’s hard to analyse just why music is so important to me, or to any of the Wutars come to that. In the same way that I will probably never understand what Sam and Maz get out of football, or how Kewie and Weeman can handle being vegetarians (in the inimitable logic of our friend Flynn “If God didn’t want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of food?!”). At it’s most emotive and lyrically insightful music shows me the path to follow, reaching me in a way no religion could ever hope to. It strips away all my cynicism and moves me in the most natural way possible. At it’s loudest, scuzziest, fastest and rawest it has an effect more powerful than any drink or drug (not that I’ve tried any mum, scout’s honour!!).

And that’s what being a real band is all about, as opposed to a bunch of musicians. With the Wutars we all have our different extremes (Sugababes, Erasure, and one day I will convince the others of the awesome body of work of The Charlatans!), but the music we all connect with is where our bond is unbreakable. When you find someone who loves the same music as passionately as you do, who feels the same emotions and takes the same message away, you have no choice but to do something about it.

Right, I’m off to join the others in the living room – Franky Lego’s rented out ‘Hatchet’ and it’s jaw-splittingly face-sandingly disgusting. Lovely! Ta-ra for now,

Decide for yourselves. I personally think there’s nothing shameful about fulfilling and satisfying my sex thirst. Providing I use protection and it’s with consent.

Thanks to everyone who popped down to see us at Tommy Flynns on Thursday. It was a really fun little gig.

We’re playing at Cafe 1001 this Tuesday so maybe we’ll see you there.

Dear friends, one has to know when this is the right time to leave, despite the overwhelm of doubts and emotions… Believe me, this was one of the toughest decisions I ever had to take . After years of breathing for the Wutars, I feel that I have reached my own limits as their manager. But “the kids are all right”, they are bright, work hard, and their immense talent, carisma and genuism can only make them successful. I believe in them as much as that night back to 2006, when I saw them perform for the first time at Filthy MacNastys. My love for them has remained intact and unconditional. Our friendship is at its strongest. I am a bit sad, simply because I will miss sharing my life with them; but this is not the end of the world, this is just the end of a journey…Our journey, together… It’s not about them, it’s about me…This is also time for me to focus on my own -too often unfinished- projects, before any “normal” job kills my brain. On the other hand, a so called “normal” job may be the best option -for now- to give a balance to a hectic lifestyle and indeed, realise those projects..Does it make sense? To anwer a burning question, I am not interested in managing any other bands, in fact, I didn’t “choose” to manage the Wutars, it happened in the most natural way. And the Wutars are the only band I could ever have dreamt to get involved with. I will see you around at gigs, because I will be there, as always, at the front line and with the smile… I want to thank you all for your loyal support, and to thank the boys… It has been the most indescribable wutarful years… Veronica Wutar

Ps: Some changes on Facebook will occur soon, from now on & anything band’s related, please contact alex@wutars.com

Saturday night, of which you’ll hear very much more of very soon I’m sure, got ever so slightly messy. After a brilliant set at the Barfly in Camden that included a stage invasion that ended in a crash landing and improvising with 3 electric guitars on stage, we brought one or two people (or nine or ten if reports can be believed) back to the Nu-Towers for a bit of a shindig. El vino was inevitably consumed and led to one or two funny incidents, not least sledging down the stairs. At this moment I’d like to point out that a genuine sledge, left out from the “Big Freeze Of Early 2010″ was used rather than the ironing board or lounge door that was often used in the original and (a little bit) smelly Towers.
Below are two links to videos on our Wutar Youtube page, Wutube (ithangayou!), the first starring Will Young celebrity lookalike JamieMaher having it large on the ‘Stairs of Doom’, and the second showing our housemate and occassional drinker Frunk attempting the same feat. Both have their charms, the former displaying some great velocity from JamieMaher and the latter opening with a debate of the virtues of a vegetable based pasta dish.
Please enjoy….
This mini-blog was inspired by David Hasselhoff’s ‘Jump In My Car’, a new barnet and a very dodgy ‘tache.

Morning kids,

Barfly tonight, killed it in rehearsal on Thursday and are match fit to play a blinder. Last night Manzini and I started laying the foundations for 9 album tracks (thanks Dellboy for lending us your Vox – she’s being taken care of), we were at it until the birds (and various media-types) started tweeting this morning. Gonna try and get a couple of hours in before we set off for that London.

Me mom woke me up with a call around 11:30 this morning – haven’t spoke to her for a little while, it was good to hear her Brummie tones. Got up, made some Mexican Eggs (breakfast of the gods (and mexicans)… if anyone wants the recipe email me – alex@wutars.com) before Sam’s mates Fat Mess, TAFKAS (The Artist Formerly Known As Shapes) and, er, Brett arrived with a full decade’s supply of Carlsberg. Decent, although I won’t be touching the stuff until I come off stage tonight.

Off for a run. It’s going to hurt.

Rain is good weather for Led Zeppelin 4. It works well with tracks like ‘Four Sticks’ and ‘When The Levee Breaks’.

It also works well with albums such as ‘Meat Is Murder’ by The Smiths, most Morrissey albums and ‘After The Goldrush’ by Neil Young.

Listening to Jimi Hendrix in the rain doesn’t work somehow (unless you’re watching Withnail & I). It needs to be summer for that kind of thing to me somehow. Windows open, incense burning, red wine and beers flowing. That kinda thing.

I’ve also been thinking what a terrible shame it is that great bands aren’t getting noticed at all these days. Mumford & Sons and a few others are an exception but when you turn on certain radio stations, DJ’s that are supposed to be playing ‘the best new stuff’ are playing complete trash. Music made by people who don’t like music. It’s very very sad.

When we play gigs, we meet bands that are just fantastic. They should be huge, but the way the music industry is today, that’s hard for them to accomplish. Without sounding big headed or arrogant I think it’s sad that The Wutars are not going the places we should be. We’re good at what we do because we work hard at it. If the songs no good, it’s not getting played. We’re perfectionists that absolutely adore music and we wouldn’t bother unless we thought what we were doing was of good quality. Why strive to be anything but the best? On that note I would like to take this opportunity to thank people that have supported the band along the way. It doesn’t go unnoticed and we loves ya!

Saying that, things are looking up this year. The new songs sound great, the last studio session we had was very productive and our hair (both face and head) is looking fantastic.

Come along to Camden Barfly this Saturday (6th Feb). We’re playing at 9:30pm and would love to see your sexy faces.

I’ll sign off now.

Peace & Love

Good day,

I think it was Swiss Toni* (remember him?) who once said “playing a concert is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. You’re filled with nerves and adrenaline as the lights go down, there’s a lot of yelling and wooping while you work up your sweat, and when it’s over you graciously accept your applause”.

I’d like to think that this missed the point, if only to consider the inconvenience this causes to our male fans (no offence lads!). It’s more a case of throwing an insane house-party without the inconvenience of having to tidy up afterwards, but with all the essential ingredients there: music, booze, showing off, and all your favourite people. The more there are, the more magical the atmosphere

Thankfully this Saturday night at the Camden Barfly is shaping up to be another one you don’t want to miss out on. The omens are already good – the venue’s been good to us, and we’ve been on a roll for a few gigs now – but with the rapidly expanding guestlist of our amazing friends and fans it’s bound to be a cracker. If you still need convincing, think of it as a chance to get up close to the facial hair we’ve been growing all month as an experiment. Maz of course is far out in the lead. Only one more week till it ends up in the sink so don’t deprive yourself of the hilarity!

Another cold and grey day outside. Welcome to February!! At least I have last night’s Charlie Brooker’s Newswipe waiting to be watched. For those of you who haven’t seen it, it’s pure GENIUS!

Stay together, stay happy and stay up stay up!

Vally x x x x x

*I’ve checked and it wasn’t.
